Dorothy E. Smith

Funeral Services for Dorothy E. (Amundsen) Smith, 94, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Thomas Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

Dorothy went to be with the Lord August 19, 2013, in Gassville. She was born September 24, 1918, in Franklin Park, Illinois, the daughter of John and Emma Wendt Schafer. She married Virgil Smith on April 19, 1997, at Mountain Home and was a homemaker. Dorothy lived in Mountain Home since 1977, moving from Fox Lake, Illinois. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and she enjoyed shopping, cooking and visiting with friends.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Robert Amundsen and his wife, Darlene of Mountain Home, AR; two grandsons, Robert T. Amundsen and his wife, Rhonda of Oxford, MS and Chipper R. Amundsen of Denham Springs, LA; three granddaughters, Denise Foster, Christine Tulacz and husband, Matt and Jennifer Thomas and eight great-grandchildren, Danielle, Ellen, Marian, Cory, Ashley, Brittany, Tyler and Mya.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Clarence H. Amundsen; second husband, Virgil Smith; one daughter, Judith Jenks; brother, Earl Schafer and two sisters, Phyllis Rassmussen and Clara Surges.

Burial will be in the Baxter Memorial Gardens, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
