Dorothy A. (Nelson) Spivey of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away December 9, 2020, in Mountain Home at the age of 85. She was born November 3, 1935, in Kansas City, Kansas , the daughter of Richard A. and Dorothy Nelson. She married Milas "Shorty" Spivey on February 15, 1976 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home, active in United Methodist Women and served as money counter of the Sunday offering for over 20 years. She worked for the senior Jim Brown at Mountain home Supply for three years when first coming to Mountain Home.
She helped her husband in owning the Farm Restaurant and worked for 10 years at First State Bank in Mountain Home. She learned how to be a "non" city girl, helping him on the farm at Clarkridge for a number of years. She always said, "other than my two boys, Shorty was the greatest blessing in her life. Being with her for nearly 40 years and sharing his family.
Dorothy is survived by her step-daughter, Pat Bryant of Mountain Home, AR.; step-granddaughters, Jamie (Brad) Parnell, Trisha (John) Blair and Marta (Brent) Edens and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Martin and Brett Dysart; parents and two brothers, Richard and David Nelson.
A Funeral Service for Dorothy will be held at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Keith Dodson and Reverend Randy Ludwig officiating. Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Due to current restrictions, masks are required.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Gammill Bryant Scholarship Fund at the Mountain Home Education Foundation.
