Dorothy Wensel Sharpe

A Funeral Service for Dorothy Evelyn Sharpe of Flippin, Arkansas, will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Margaret Hankens officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Dorothy passed away January 29, 2012, at her residence in Flippin, Arkansas at the age of 95. She was born October 22, 1916, in Caldwell, Kansas, the daughter of Olin and Edna Hoistington Edwards. She married Goree Meegan August 28, 1939 at Kingfisher, OK, he died in 1956 and she then married Russell Wensel on November 27, 1959, at Carson City, Nevada and worked 23 years as a telephone operator for Nevada Bell Telephone Co. Russell passed away in 1981. She married Dean Sharpe on February 14, 1993 at Yellville, AR. Dorothy lived in Twin Lakes area since 1974 moving from Reno, Nevada. Dorothy worked at the Baxter Regional Medical Center for 12 years. She loved gardening, reading the bible, crocheting, raising cats, collecting butterflies, going to yard sales and church. She was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. Dorothy is survived by her 2 daughters, Sherrie (Chris) Dickens of Flippin, AR and Judith Raye (Bob) Meadors of Colorado Springs, CO; 1 son, Jerry Dale (Phyllis Moen) Meegan of Reno, NV; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and June Wensel of Mountain Home, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 husbands. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Leroy Wensel, Charles Wensel, A.J. Pennison, Steve Dalton, Clinton Shepard and Billy Hankens as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Yancey, Johnny Garrett, Troy Kelly, Billy Pilcher and Jack Dickens. Memorials may be made to the Joel Olstin Ministries. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
