A Memorial Service for Dorothy G. Wilson of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, will be 11AM August 27, 2016, at the Bull Shoals United Methodist Church with Reverend Donnie Hudson officiating.
Dorothy passed away July 27, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 95. She was born October 20, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Woodward and Fern Shapland Gunkel. She married Ralph E. Wilson on July 18, 1942 in Detroit, MI. Dorothy was the head administrative secretary to the Wheeling Superintendent of Schools in Wheeling, IL. Dorothy and her husband retired to Arkansas in 1982. She was a long time member of the Bull Shoals United Methodist Church. Dorothy was active in her church choir, United Methodist Women, the Bull Shoals Library and an avid bridge player.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Thomas C. (Kim) Wilson of Golden, CO; three granddaughters, Beth Ann Mikes, Candace Marie Gilchrist and April Faith Wilson; great-granddaughters, Kennedy Gilchrist, and Regan Mikes; great-grandson, Trevor Mikes and dear friends, Deb and Ron Lewellen of Bull Shoals, AR as well as many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband ; sister, Ann Cowan; and brother, Henry Gunkle.
Burial will be private in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Bull Shoals Friends of the Library, the Bull Shoals-Lakeview Rotary Club Scholarship Fund or the Bull Shoals Food Pantry.
