Dorris Ellenor Gipson

A Memorial Service for Dorris Ellenor Gipson of Cotter, Arkansas, will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Terry Moser officiating.

Dorris passed away December 8, 2014, in Gassville, Arkansas at the age of 87. She was born January 31, 1927, in Harlem, Montana, the daughter of Samuel and Nelly Kersavish Harvey. She married John D. Gipson on October 6, 1948, at Chinook, Montana and worked as a licensed practical nurse. Dorris lived in Cotter since 1968, moving from Sheridan, Wyoming. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, studying, learning, giving and helping those in need.

Dorris is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Bea Holliday of Aiken, SC; son, John Wayne (Linda) Gipson of Tombstone, AZ; son, Rich Gipson of Gallatin, TN; daughter, La Vonda (Dean) Carpenter of Mountain Home, AR; eleven grandchildren, Richie Hinson, Dee Dee Hinson, J.W. (Shelly) Holliday, Jarrett (Sarah) Holliday, John Christian Gipson, Heidi Gipson, Nikki Gipson, Starla (Tony) Brown, Josh (Candice) Gipson, Josh (Christina) Carpenter and Brittanny (Joshua) Wilson,; sixteen great-grandchildren and sister, Mary Jeffers of Harlem, MT.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Lee Hinson and son, Ron Torgerson.

Inurnment will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Cotter, Arkansas.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
