Doyle Davis

A Funeral Service for Doyle Dean Davis of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 23, 2013, at College & North Church of Christ, with Brother Ken Burton officiating. Graveside service conducted by Paul Schandevel. Visitation will be Friday, March 22, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Doyle passed from this life on March 16, 2013, in Valparaiso, Indiana, at the age of 87. He was born on November 24, 1925, in Elmo, Arkansas, the son of Miles Henry Davis and Nola Pearl (Gray) Davis. He married Nannie Berniece Tapp on July 10th 1945, at Randolph County, Arkansas. Doyle was a U.S. Army combat veteran of the WWII. He served the 20th Street Church of Christ in Rockford, Illinois, as the regular minister from 1955-1975; and as one of the elders from 1957-1977. This is a congregation that grew from 32 in attendance to 500 members during that period. Doyle was appointed Director of Shults Lewis Child & Family Services of Valparaiso, Indiana in 1978 and continued that work through 1991. He had been associated with Shults Lewis, directly and indirectly, since the early 1950?s. Doyle lived in Mountain Home, since retirement, moving from Valparaiso Indiana. He was a member of the College and North Church of Christ serving as an elder of the congregation for several years. Doyle is survived by his wife, Berniece Davis of Valparaiso, IN; daughter, Sheilla Davis of Valparaiso, IN; son, Delton Davis of Saint Joseph, MO; three brothers, Wayne Davis, Rex Davis of Chattanooga, TN and Glenn Davis of Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren, Shelley Ginn (Clay) of Saint Charles, MO, Andrew Davis (Cheryl) of Keizer, OR, Joshua Davis (Julie) of Chesapeake, VA, Jennifer Stotler (Stephen) of O?Fallon, MO and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nola Davis. Burial will be in the Kirby?s Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, AR, with Andrew Davis, Joshua Davis, Stephen Stotler, and Clay Ginn as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Shults Lewis Childrens Home, PO Box 471, Valparaiso, IN 46384 or Children?s Homes, 5515 Old Walcott Rd, Paragould, AR 72450 in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
