Dr. James Hoffpauir was born December 16, 1947 at Woodville, Texas to Oscar and Violet Jimmie Kirkland Hoffpauir. He married Catherine Ann Bartels on March 27, 1970 in Beaumont, Texas. Dr. Hoffpauir served as pastor of the Mountain Home Baptist Church since 1995. Before coming to Mountain Home, Dr. Hoffpauir pastored for 28 years at various churches in Texas. Dr. Hoffpauir received his B.A. from East Texas Baptist College, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctorate of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary. Dr. Hoffpauir also loved woodworking and golfing, but most of all his love was studying and teaching God's word. Survivors: Dr. James Hoffpauir is survived by his wife, Cathy of Cotter; 2 daughters, Christa Erin (Darrin) Hartley of Central Asia and Jennifer Lori (Scott) Arms of Gassville; 1 brother, Rev. Bobby Lynn Hoffpauir of Marshall, Texas and 1 sister, Phyllis Ann Head of Houston, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Hannah Noel and Caleb James Hartley; 2 nieces and 1 nephew. Preceded in Death by: He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation: Visitation will be Tuesday, August 29 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Mountain Home Baptist Church. Funeral: Funeral services for Dr. James Hoffpauir of Cotter will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30 at the Mountain Home Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Lynch officiating. Burial: Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Hoffpauir officiating. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Mountain Home Baptist Church.
