Dwight Edward Gibson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, went into the arms of the Lord on February 26, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 93. He was born January 25, 1932, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Horace and Maggie Case Gibson. Dwight was a U.S. Army veteran in the Korean War. He married Darlene Buckner on September 12, 1959, in Wichita, Kansas and worked as a technician for Southwestern Bell for 35 years. In 1992, Dwight moved from Wichita, Kansas to Arkansas living in both Lakeview and Mountain Home. He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church in Mountain Home. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hiking, woodworking, and spending time outdoors. He was very thoughtful in his decisions and was known to be able to fix everything.
Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Darlene Gibson of Mountain Home, AR; daughter, Pam (Jeff) Hale of Hickory, NC; brother, Glenn Gibson of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Taylor (Cory) Robert of Hickory, NC, Regan Hale of Salt Lake City, UT, Ali Hale of Hickory, NC, and Trey (Zoe) Hale of Hendersonville, NC; and great-grandchild, Parks Robert of Hickory, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Vincent Craig Gibson; brother, Hugh Gibson; and sisters, Carol Bumgardner, Doris Hus, Patricia Gibson, and Margaret Ramsey.
Visitation for Dwight will be Saturday, March 8, 2025, 9:30 am, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 am with Pastor Scott Speer officiating. Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas with honorary pallbearers Jeff Hale, Trey Hale, Cory Robert, Steve Buckner, Eddie Goodwin, Jeep Chick, Leon Reubin, Lindley Reubin, and Carl Albright. Military Honors will be provided by the Alley - White American Legion Post #52 and the United States Army Honor Guards.
