A Funeral Service for Earl J. Huebner of Rolla, Missouri, will be 1:00 pm, Friday, October 26, 2018, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Deacon William Schutte officiating. Visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2018, from 11:00 am until service time, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home.
Earl passed away October 11, 2018, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 91. He was born July 5, 1927, in Andover, Iowa, the son of Alvin and Emma Huebner. He graduated from Miles High School, Miles, Iowa, in 1945. After graduating, he joined the Merchant Marines during the end of WWII. He joined the Merchant Marines even though he couldn’t swim and sank like a rock. Obviously, an ability to swim was not a requirement for joining. He traveled around the world 2.5 times during his service. He married Beverly Kook on June 10, 1950, in Clinton. He worked for Clinton Corn as a carpenter and then ADM before retiring. They lived in Lakeview, Arkansas for over 20 years, having moved from Fulton, Illinois. He was active as a Cub Scout leader, a church elder, and the Moose Club. He enjoyed playing the guitar and steel guitar. Earl was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Mountain Home and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rolla, Missouri. While at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Earl became a Stephens minister.
Earl is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Elaine (Denny) Gottschalk of Cave City, AR, and Nancy (Tony Ghizzone) Huebner of Edison, NJ; sons, Roger Huebner of El Paso, TX, and Bradley (Irma) Huebner of Camanche; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Huebner; daughters, Mrs. Mary (Paul) Goddard of St. James, MO, and Mrs. Rhonda, (Russell) Bailey of Clinton, IA; a sister, a brother, and a grandson.
Entombment with military honors will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
