She was born November 16, 1922 at Mount Ayr, Iowa the daughter of Lilly Bell Stewart & Icabod Comstock McCreary. She married William C. Newton on April 13, 1970 at Jay, Oklahoma. She had been a resident of Mountain Home since moving from Sidney, Iowa in 1968. She was a member of the Mountain Home Baptist Church. Mrs. Newton was a nurse for the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was a life member of the Purple Heart Auxiliary Unit #681, Hoevel-Barnett Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Bull Shoals and Disabled American VeteranÂ?s Auxiliary, she also was a member of the Poets Club. She moved to Hawaii on September 2, 2004 and entered into eternal rest on October 16, 2004 at Ewa Beach, Hawaii at the age of 81 years 11 months and 1 day. Survivors: She is survived by: her step-daughter Arlene Moore of Ewa Beach, Hawaii one brother Robert McCreary of Florida, 4 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her parents and husband and seven sisters including her twin Edrie Gordon. Visitation: Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 Â? 8:00 p.m. at the Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral: Funeral service for Edith A. Newton formerly of Mountain Home will be Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mountain Home Baptist Church with Dr. James Hoffpauir officiating.
