A Funeral Service for Edwin J. Basye of Lakeview, Arkansas, will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 16, 2015, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Sam Bailey and Reverend Pat Norris and Dr. Sam Bailey officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service.
Edwin passed away November 4, 2015, in Lakeview, Arkansas at the age of 97. He was born October 24, 1918, in Bone Gap, Illinois, the son of Edwin and Mary Rees Basye, Sr. He married Ruth Migendt on March 9, 1940, at Las Vegas Nevada. She passed away in April, 2010. He married Myrl Katzmarek on April 3, 2011, at Mountain Home, Arkansas. Edwin was a Contract Administrator for Lockheed Missile and Space Sunnyvale, and an Ordained Minister. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Edwin lived in Lakeview since 2007, moving from Vacaville, California. He was a member of the Twin Lakes Baptist Church and enjoyed playing guitar at Assisted Living and Nursing Homes.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Myrl Basye of Lakeview, AR; two sons, Thomas L. Basye of Jonesboro, AR, and Edwin M. Basye of Douglas, AZ; daughter, Loretta L. (Jaime) Esteves of Allendale, MI; 8 grandchildren and special niece and nephew, Virginia Avery and Gordon Aylor both of Bull Shoals, AR. He is further survived by Myrl's children, Jan (Chuck) Nichols of Destin, FL; Jim (Zaidee) Williams of Flippin, AR; and their children.
The last born of twelve children, he was preceded in death by his siblings and parents; first wife, Ruth and her five sisters and one brother.
Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas with Tom Basye, Ed Basye, Jack Pepper, Jim Avery, Chuck Nichols, Terry Briggs and Jim Williams as pallbearers. Military Honors will be provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #3246 and United States Army Honor Guards.
