A Family Graveside Service for Elizabeth Jane (“Betty”) White was held at 1pm on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Elmwood Cemetery in Morrilton, Arkansas, where Betty and her family lived for more than 20 years while her husband was a physician there.
Betty passed away on February 27, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 88. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 16, 1928, she was the only child of Fred Harvey McGinnis and Grace Lee (Moon) McGinnis. She married Henry Bascom White, Jr. on July 14, 1946 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Betty was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her four sons and one daughter - Dr. Robert Bascom White (Marilyn) of Paragould, Arkansas, Samuel Lee Pitmon of Lexington, Kentucky, William David White (Becky) of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. R. Bruce White (Stacy) of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Elizabeth Anne White of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and by 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, all of whom will affectionately remember her as “Mimi.”
After Bascom’s death, Betty lived and worked in real estate and advertising sales in Little Rock and Paragould, Arkansas, before retiring to Mountain Home, where she served in the Baxter Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, volunteering at the Bargain Box Thrift Store for over 15 years.
