Visitation for Ella Gene "Jean" Fuson, of Mountain Home, Arkansas will be from 12:00 noon until 2:30 pm, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, East Lyon Street, DesMoines, Iowa with graveside services to follow at 3:30 P.M., at St. Charles Cemetery, St. Charles, Iowa. Jean passed away February 1, 2012, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 90. She was born August 22, 1921, in St. Charles, IA, the daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth Downs Mathews. She graduated from St. Charles High School and married Verle Fuson on December 21, 1941, at Grant City, Missouri. Jean lived in Des Moines until 2007, when she moved to Mountain Home, AR, to live with her daughter. She worked for New Utica, Vividan's, Dart's Little Folks Shop, Barbara's Bake Shoppe, and the Des Moines Public Schools. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Jean loved square and round dancing. Jean is survived by her son, Eugene (Ellen) Fuson, of Cape Fair, MO; daughter, Sharon Stevens and fiancé, Fred Edwards, of Mountain Home, AR; 4 Grandchildren, Mark (Jane) Stevens, of Bethel Heights, AR, Suzanne (Chris) Neff, of Houston, TX, Francesca (C.L.) Brownsberger, of Blue Springs, MO, Danielle Sharpe, of West Des Moines, IA; 6 great-grandchildren, James and Regan Brownsberger, Stephanie and David Neff, Spencer and Sydney Sharpe. Brother-in-law, Don Fuson, of Des Moines, IA, and sisters-in-law, Wilma Kennedy, of Ankeny, IA, and Marguerite (Leland) Brown, of Cheyenne, WY. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, and her son-in-law, former Mayor, Jim Stevens.
