Ellen Faye Hodges Gardner, a beloved member of the Gassville community, passed away on April 18, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 18, 1942, in Baxter County, Arkansas.
In her career, Ellen was known for her work as a cook for both the White Sands and the Brass Door. Her passion for cooking touched the hearts and stomachs of many throughout her professional journey. Beyond her career, Ellen had a love for simple pleasures. She found joy in watching soap operas on TV and listening to music, embracing the beauty in life's little moments. She was a member at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church.
Ellen will be dearly missed by her daughter, Vera (Marvin) Brandon of Gassville, AR; two grandchildren, Justin (Micah) Brandon of Bentonville, AR, and Kristin (Bruce) Neel of Bloomington, IL; as well as three great-grandchildren: Deacon, Duke, and Dutch Brandon. Among those who mourn her passing are her sisters, Pat Pope of Mountain Home, AR, Doris (Norman Jr.) Brandon of Gassville, AR, and Celia Hodges of Gassville; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Ellen in death were her father, Glen Hodges; mother, Myrtle Hodges Parks; brothers, Elmer Hodges, Dean Hodges, and Gary Hodges; and sister Nancy Vines.
The visitation to honor Ellen's life will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Gassville Baptist Church in Gassville, Arkansas. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery with Brother Gary Wise officiating. Pallbearers will be Junior Chaney, Ronnie Chaney, Shane Chaney, David Huddleston, Dwaine Hodges, Jeremy Hodges, and Bobby Vines. Honorary pallbearers will be Brooks Due, Mac Davis, Norman Brandon Jr., Dwaine Reed, and Neil Rasmussen.
