Funeral Services with Military Honors for Elmer Lee "Mac" McCormack, 82, will be 11AM Friday, May 9th, 2014, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Bull Shoals, Arkansas, with Reverend Randy Ludwig and Lynn Beck officiating. Visitation from 9AM until time of service. Mac died May 2, 2014, in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Mac was born October 15, 1931, in Butler, Missouri, to Ezra Nealius and Cora Cummins McCormack. He married Sophie Perez, August 21, 1954, in Newport, Rhode Island. Mac retired in 1972 as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy. He served his country in Korea and Vietnam. He was the team leader of Beach Jumper Unit One in Vietnam. Mac was a lifetime member of the Hoevel-Barnett Post #1341 VFW. He never met a stranger and enjoyed working in his garden, leather crafting, hunting and fishing.
Mac is survived by wife, Sophie McCormack of Lakeview, AR; two sons, Ken McCormack (Cheryl) of Manteca, CA and Tim McCormack (Stephanie) of North Pole, AK; three grandchildren, Jacob McCormack, Zachary McCormack and Kelsey Wilson (Lance); two great-grandchildren, Alex and Allison Wilson; nephew, Tom Cox of TN; great-nephew, Stan Cox and great-niece, Marie Cox of TN; eight sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; and many other nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Kris; three sisters and two brothers-in-law.
