A Funeral Service for Emma Alice Grissom of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 3, 2017, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be 3:00 pm, Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
Alice passed away September 28, 2017, in Gassville, Arkansas at the age of 91. She was born May 1, 1926, in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of William and Augusta Hebrew Schofield. She married Ezra Glendon Grissom on January 24, 1944, in Cimarron, Kansas. She and Ezra owned and operated the State Line Variety Store from 1975-1990. After Ezra passed away, she sold the store and moved to Mountain Home in 1990. She was a member of the East Side Baptist Church, and enjoyed volunteering for over 20 years at the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas' Thrift Store.
Alice is survived by her son, James David (Carol) Grissom of Haysville, KS; daughter, Jo Ann (Doug) Anderson of Mountain Home, AR; son, Rodney Bruce Grissom of Phoenix, AZ; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Andrew Schofield of Glendive, MT.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Ezra Gene "Butch" Grissom; daughter, Vanita Sue Smith; three brothers, James, Walter, and Vernon; sister, Viola; and two grandsons, John and David.
