Emma "Bunnie" Theresa Wilson, 91, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Emma, always known as “Bunnie” by her family and friends, was born on February 15, 1933, in Tillamook, Oregon, to Allen Percival and Inez Theresa McCoy Howison. She graduated from Washington High School in Portland, Oregon in 1951. She married Philip J. Maynard in 1952, and with the U.S. Air Force, moved to California, Alaska, and Texas where she would live most of her life. She went on to earn her secretary certification and began her career as a secretary, working for Trendex, a stock market research company. She retired from American Airlines as a reservationist in 1999. She married Wayne Clark Wilson on January 14, 1983, in San Antonio, Texas. They lived in Pipe Creek, Texas for many years and especially enjoyed serving with the Volunteer Fire Department, traveling, and their church family. Emma accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a little girl in Oregon and was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene, wherever she lived. She was a faithful member and served in leadership positions in the local church as treasurer, church board member, and active layperson throughout most of her life. Before her final move to Arkansas, she was a member of the Kerrville Church of the Nazarene in Kerrville, Texas. In 2023, Emma relocated to Mountain Home, Arkansas to live with her oldest daughter. She was a member of Twin Lakes Church of the Nazarene.
Emma is survived by two daughters, Theresa (Rev. Bill) Grigory of Mountain Home, AR, and Claudia Blackstock of San Antonio, TX; son, Keith Allen Maynard of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Shannon Herndon of Sun Valley, AZ, Megan Staffenson of Okinawa, Japan, Zachary Maynard of Dallas, TX, and McKynze Maynard of Tucson, AZ; and great-grandchildren, Karis, Kaeden, Max, Luke, Emery, and Camryn; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Howison of Caldwell, ID and Sylvia McCaslin of Eugene, OR.
She is preceded in death by her husbands; parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
Committal will be in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, with Reverend Bill Grigory officiating.
Memorial donations may be made in Emma's name to Native American Christian Academy in Sun Valley, AZ.
