Erwin Howard O'Brien was born June 4, 1935, at Madison, Kansas, to Erwin Howard and Ruby Johnson O'Brien. He married Gwendolyn Walker on February 21, 1956 at El Dorado, Kansas. He was a railroad switchman for Union Pacific Railroad and retired after 40 years with the railroad. He lived in Douglas, Kansas before moving to Mountain Home in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, skeet shooting, and bowling. He loved his dogs and playing guitar. He was a member of Mountain Home Bible Church.Mr. O'Brien died Monday April 23, 2007 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. Survivors: Wife, Gwendolyn O'Brien, of Mountain Home, son, Ernest Erwin (Crystal) O'Brien, 3 daughters, Glenda (Donald) Hiebert, of Newton, Kansas, Erma (Douglas) Clarkson, of Wichita, Kansas, Kathy O'Brien, of Newton, Kansas, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and his two dogs, Ginger and Hanna.
