Essie Turner died Thursday, April 9, 2009 in Mountain Home at the age of 103. She was born Wednesday, March 7, 1906 in Ozark, Arkansas, the daughter of Eugene and Myrtle Welton Anderson. She married Gilbert Turner and worked as an Assembly Line Worker for General Motors 32 years. Essie lived in Mountain Home since 1995 moving from Ozark, Arkansas. She enjoyed bowling, singing in the choir and was Miss Congeniality at age 102 in the Pine Lane Healthcare Beauty Pageant. Survivors: Essie Turner is survived by her daughter, Mary (Don) Young of Mountain Home, AR, son, Larry (Greta) Turner of Clarkston, MI, 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, One brother, Demus (Glae)Anderson of Ozark, AR, Three sisters, Vera Overton of West Covina, CA, Norma (Otis) Marrow of Largo, FL, and Corlene Ball of Apopka, FL. and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother and 4 sisters. Funeral: Memorial services for Essie M. Turner of Mountain Home, AR, will be 3:00 P.M.
