Ethel Zobac

October 27, 1919 — December 24, 2006

Ethel was born October 27, 1919, at Valley Springs, South Dakota, to Werner and Hulda Gustafson. The family moved to Chicago in 1926. During her teenage years, she actively participated in the Rainbow Girls and The Eastern Star. Following graduation from Parker High School, she was employed at the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. In 1939 Ethel married Harold Zobac and settled in Tinley Park, Illinois. She worked at Orland State Bank from 1957-1978 and regularly gave of her time to benefit the organization Recording for the Blind. Ethel and Harold retired to Mountain Home in 1978. She loved to quilt, bowl, and was an avid reader. As a member of the Mountain Home Bible Church, Ethel was active in Maranatha Ladies and was devoted to the Missions Committee. In the community, she contributed her time in tutoring for literacy. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Survivors: She is survived by her son, Stan (Cindi) of Eagle Bay, British Columbia, Canada; her daughter, Lila McCartney and friend, Michael LaBombard of Springhill, Arkansas; her daughter, Adele (Dennis) Odom of Vernon Hills, Illinois; grandchildren Michael (Allyson) and Caroline Zobac of British Columbia and Kelly and Matthew Odom of Chicago and Vernon Hills. Preceded in Death by: She is preceded in death by her husband Harold and brother Elof. Funeral: A memorial service for Ethel Marie Zobac, 87, of Mountain Home will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28 at Mountain Home Bible Church with Pastor Wesley Uplinger officiating. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Mountain Home Bible Church Scholarship or Missions Funds.
