A funeral mass for Eugene John Hogan of Midway, Arkansas will be at 11:00AM, Monday November 23, 2009 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas with Reverend Stan Swiderski officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4PM Sunday November 22, 2009 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Mountain Home. Gene Hogan left us November 17, 2009 at his home leaving behind his wife of 66 years, a devoted family, many friends and the life he loved so much. He was 89 years old. Gene was born June 7, 1920 at Iowa City, IA to Edward and Mary Regina Carroll Hogan. He married, Katherine Ruppert on October 6, 1943 at Harlingen, TX. Gene was a United States Army WWII Veteran. He served as a flight instructor at Harlingen Army Air Field Base in Texas and later served in the Army Reserves. He graduated with an engineering degree from the University of Iowa. Eugene was a Regional General Manager of Transportation for General Electric for 29 years. He lived in Naperville, Il for 22 years before retiring to Arkansas in 1983. Gene was an extremely kind and affable man, who had many friends. He enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with the family and friends. He was a "survivor" and showed amazing strength and courage. He is survived by his wife Katherine Hogan, three sons; Martin Hogan(Joyce) of Lagrange Park, IL, Pat Hogan(Barb) of Oswego, IL, John Hogan(Karen) of Naperville, IL, two daughters; Ginny Hogan of Santa Fe, NM, Mary Holley(Glenn) of Park City, UT, one sister; Mary Beth Flander of Winterset, IA, ten grandchildren; Anne, Ben, Andy, Wade, Colleen, Katie, Harrison, Dan, Mike and Caleb and four great-grandchildren; Nicholas, Kiersten, Bradley and Mason. He was preceded in death by son, Richard, daughter, Carol McGrath and brother, Caroll Hogan. Burial will be in Springfield National Cemetery in Springfield, Mo. Pallbearers are grandsons: Ben, Andy and Wade Hogan; Dan, Mike and Caleb Hogan, and Harrison Hogan Holley. In lieu of flowers please give to a charity of your choice.
