Eugene Girard Smith

Funeral Services for Eugene G. Smith, 96, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas will be 10AM Tuesday April 7, 2015 at Christ by the Lake Lutheran Church in Bull Shoals, AR with Reverend Mike Clark officiating. Burial will be in Newton Flat Cemetery with military honors by Hoevel-Barnett Post 1341 VFW for service in the United States Army. Eugene died April 4, 2015 in Mountain Home, AR.

Eugene was born in Chicago, IL to Charles F. and Ethel P. Smith. He married Fleta on October 28, 1939. He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army Air Force during World War ll. Eugene owned his own business selling and servicing boats, motors, and appliances. He and Fleta moved to Bull Shoals in 1979 from Villa Park, IL. Eugene was an active member of Christ by the Lake Lutheran Church, the Bull Shoals Fire Department Auxiliary, the Bull Shoals Historical Society, a life time member of the Bull Shoals VFW, and the Retired Fisherman’s Club. He was a lover of vintage cars and Cadillacs and in his younger years had his own band.

Eugene is survived by son, Howard E. Smith (Tricia); daughter, Florence Gene Stewart “Genie” (Jack); and four grandsons, David Stewart (Lisa Baker), Steven Stewart, Jeffrey Smith, and Garett Smith (Danelle). He was preceded in death by his wife.
