Evelyn Berniece Booy, 88, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away on November 20, 2024 in Branson, Missouri. Born on July 6, 1936, in Sully, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Bruxvoort VanKalkeren. Evelyn married Harold Booy on June 28, 1957, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. In 1978, Evelyn and her family relocated from Pella, Iowa, to Mountain Home. They enjoyed a brief period in Arizona beginning in 2007 before returning home to Mountain Home. Throughout her life, Evelyn was an active member of the Mountain Home Assembly of God, where they spent more than 20 years working with the Assembly of God's RV Map ministry. At the Assembly of God, she made lasting friendships and contributed to her community.
Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, Harold Booy of Mountain Home, AR; her son, Wayne (Doris Whitten) Booy; her daughter, Sheryl (Scott) Long; and daughter-in-law, Kim Booy. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 23 great-grandchildren. Evelyn is also survived by her sister, Nellie Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth VanKalkeren; her son, Ronald Dean Booy; two brothers, Dick VanKalkeren and Lester VanKalkeren; and three sisters, Johanna VanHemert, Gertie Frost, and Harriet Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring Evelyn's life will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Mountain Home First Assembly of God, led by Pastor Josh Beers. Burial will follow at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons, Nathan Long, Jeremy Long, Caleb Long, Jared Long, Landon Booy, and Jeff Booy. In honor of Evelyn's memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at the First Assembly of God. Arrangements are entrusted to Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
