Evelyn May Meyer passed away on September 8, 2022, after a short illness in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was her 92 and one half birthday.
Evelyn was born at home on her family farm in Todd County, Minnesota on March 8,1930 to Emil and Jennie Rieck. She shared a birthday with her father. Evelyn enjoyed her community at Redeemer Lutheran, Friday music nights at the Senior Center, and chats over her back fence with her sweet neighbor. “Gigi’s” cookie tin was always full for her great grandchildren’s summer visits. Evelyn moved to Minneapolis this past July to live with her granddaughter.
Evelyn is survived by her brother, Donald Rieck (Lydia) of Mountain Home, AR; her daughter, Cynthia Layton of Maynard, AR; granddaughter, Darby Ahartz of Minneapolis, MN; and two great-grandchildren, Ziyad and Lucinda.
