Ewald Toedter died Friday, August 21, 2009 in Mountain Home at the age of 86. Ewald was born Tuesday, November 7, 1922 in Germany, son of Karl Toedter and Wilhelmine Timmann. He served in World War II in Germany, was captured on the Russian front in 1943 and was put in different prison camps. In 1947-1949, he was put in Ural Mountain camp, close to the Siberian Border. He returned to Germany and in 1953, he immigrated to Bensenville, Illinois where he married Elisabeth Meyer on May 20, 1953. They lived in Franklin Park Illinois. Ewald worked as a Welder for 18 years, rented a Gas Station for 6 years and worked in Excavation for 10 years. In 1988, they retired to Florida. In June of 2000, they moved to Midway, Arkansas. He loved gardening and was an avid wrestling fan. Ewald is survived by his loving family: wife, Elizabeth Toedter of Midway, Arkansas, 2 Sons, Ralph (Jane) Toedter of St. Charles, IL, David (Theresa) Toedter of Hawthorn Woods, IL, 6 Grandchildren, Kevin (Nikki), Kimberly (Rodney), Keith (Jamie), Kristina (Aaron), Stacy, and Nicholas, 5 Great-Grandchildren, Alex, Addyson, Ryan, Hayden, and Jenna, 3 Sister-in-laws, Magda of Mountain Home, AR, Margret (Ernst) of Lakeview, AR, Margot of Germany, 6 Sisters, Inge, Luise, Elli, Irmgard, Gisela, Erika all of Germany, 1 Brother, Gerhard of Germany, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and 1 sister. Burial will be in the Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks or Reedemer Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
