Franklin Cox

June 3, 1928 — March 17, 2008

Franklin D "Scotty" Cox was born June 3, 1928 at Chaffee, Missouri the son of William Grandville Cox and Eliza Hightower Cox. He served with the US Navy during World War II and had lived in the Mountain Home area since moving from Springfield, Missouri in 1995. He married Barbara Jo Norman at Mountain Home on June 2007. He was a member of Ozark VFW Post #3246, Twin Lakes Literacy Council, Twin Lakes Playhouse and the Twin Lakes Church of the Nazrene. He was a volunteer for Kindness Inc., Ozark Community Center and the Visually Impaired. He loved country music and all sports, especially baseball. He died at Baxter Regional Medical Center on March 17, 2008 at the age of 79 years. Survivors: Wife, Barbara Cox of Mountain Home; 4 Sons, Randy, Doug (Tammy), Vince (Linda) and Kirby (Kim) Cox all of Springfield, Missouri; 4 Stepdaughters; 1 Stepson; 4 Grandchildren, Kelsea, Zachary, Nicholette and Keifer Cox; 1 Niece, Nadine Duke of Florida and 1 Nephew, Harold Duke of Missouri; Godson, Bobby Powers of Mountain Home Preceded in Death by: Parents, 2 Brothers and a Sister Funeral: Memorial Services at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend G. M. Petry officiating. Military Honors by North Central Arkansas Veterans Council with Honor Guard by Ozark VFW Post #3246. Burial: Private Memorials: Ozark Community Center or Kindness, Inc.
