Fred Payne was born February 2, 1939, at Central City, Kentucky, to Fred and Edna Phelps Payne and married Holly Miller on November 30, 1973 at Geneva, Illinois. Mr. Payne worked in and owned Auto Body Shops for 30 years, before retiring to Mountain Home in 1992. Mr. Payne also worked as a Sheet Metal Specialist for the US Air Force. Mr. Payne lived in Mountain Home for 11 years, moving from Aurora, Illinois. Mr. Payne was of the Baptist faith. He passed away on April 6. 2004 at his residence. He was 65 years, 2 months and 4 days of age. Survivors: His wife, Holly, 2 Daughters, Sherri (Enis) Stephens of Whites Creek, Tennessee, Cindy (Russell) Conn of Mountain Home, Arkansas, 8 Grandchildren; James Davis, Lisa Stewart, Andrea Edwards, David Stephens, Amanda Gills, Russell Conn, Jr., Heather Conn and Brittany Conn, Six Great Grandchildren; Ashley, Austin, Timmy, Haley, Caleb, and Hunter, One sister; Gina (Jerry) Wendell of Jacksonville, Florida, and several Nieces and nephews. Also survived by special friends Darwin and Mary Martinell, Jack Lawing and the Special Hospice friends. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Visitation: 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.Friday, March 9, 2004 Funeral: Funeral Service will be at 7:00 P.M. Friday, April 9, 2004 at the Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jan Heine officiating and Military Honors provided by the Mountain Home VFW post # 3246 Honor Guard. Burial: Private burial will be in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery.
