Fred H. Strain was born October 23, 1924, at Clarkridge, Arkansas, to Jesse and Della Standage Strain. He married Irene Orost on April 28, 1947, at Mountain Home. He was a carpenter and lifetime resident of the area. He died Thursday, July 20, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Strain was an Army veteran of WWII who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising his garden to give to others. He loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors: He is survived by two sons, Fred (Jeannie) Strain of Gainesville, Missouri, and Ronald (Joyce) Strain of Clarkridge; two daughters, Connie (Gene) Thompson of Clarkridge, and Coleen (Tony) Miller of Mountain Home; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold (Ruth) Strain of Clarkridge and Harold (Velma) Strain of Gainesville, Missouri; and one sister, Jessie (Kenneth) Sterling of Clarkridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters. Funeral: Funeral services for Fred H. Strain, 81, of Clarkridge will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 24 at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home with Brother Billy McFarland officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23, with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00, at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: Burial will be in Howards Ridge Cemetery in Gainesville, Missouri, with Tony Dale Strain, Trenton Strain, Terry Thompson, Chris Todd, Jesse Todd and Nelson Doebler as pallbearers.
