Freda Vergie Evans was born February 25, 1914 in Caney, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Virgil Gray and Florence Bell Dixon Davenport. She married Clarence Crawford in 1944. After his death she married Melvin Evans on September 5, 1971 in Flippin, Arkansas. She was a retired seamstress who worked at Mar-Bax Shirt Company. Mrs. Evans lived in the Mountain Home area most of her life. She enjoyed gardening, reading and sewing. She was a member of the West Road Church of Christ. Freda Vergie Evans passed away at Good Samaritan Nursing Home on June 24, 2005, at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 29 days. Survivors: Two sons, Hugh (Carolyn) and David (Linda) Crawford, both of Mountain Home, Arkansas; daughter Cara (Calvin) Crim of Kingsport, Tenessee; stepson, Ben Evelyn) Evans of Santa Fe, New Mexico; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five brothers, Victor Davenport of Harrison, Arkansas, Doyle Davenport of Gassville, Arkansas, Ivy Davenport of Morriston, Arkansas, Virgil Davenport of Flippin, Arkansas and Gerald Davenport of Caney, Arkansas; sister, Doris Woods of Mountain Home, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews Preceded in Death by: Parents; two husbands, Clarence Crawford and Melvin Evans; one sister, Iris Watson and a stepson, Bill Evans Funeral: 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at the Caney Church of Christ with Brother Luell McCutcheon officiating Burial: Caney Cemetery Memorials: NW Florida School of Biblical Studies, Church of Christ, 4051 Stefani Road, Cantonment, FL 32533 Phone (850) 474-9257
