A Celebration of Life for Garth Arden Sheley of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Promise Land Bible Church, with Pastor Mike Brinkmeier officiating.
A fellowship and pot luck will follow at the Promise Land Community Center.
Garth passed away July 6, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 89. He was born October 13, 1926, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Darcy and Ferne Branning Sheley. Garth was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married Clara Mae Schultz on June 22, 1946, in Rockford. He opened Creative Art & Sign Company in Rockford in 1954 and moved the business to the Promise Land area 1967. He was a member of the VFW, CB/Ham Radio Club, Promise Land Volunteer Fire Department and the Promise Land Area Community Organization (PLACO). He enjoyed geocaching, woodworking, building model airplanes and spelunking.
Garth is survived by his wife, Clara M. Sheley of Mountain Home, AR; son, Steven (Marsha) Sheley of Loves Park, IL; three daughters, Darcie (Joseph) Didden of Oakland, AR, Doreen (Bill) Plimmer of Mountain Home, and Colleen (William) Stephenson of Mountain Home; two brothers, Lyle (Mary) Sheley of Rockford, IL and Dale (Mary) Sheley of Rockford; 15 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, JoAnn Sheley; son, Glenn Sheley and brother, Carroll Sheley.
Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Volunteer Fire Department.
