Gaye Amis

Gaye B. Amis of Crystal Lake, Illinois, formerly of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away October 15, 2012. She was born December 31, 1928, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was the daughter of Chester and Martha Bryant. Gaye married Lewis F. Amis, July 8, 1947, in Henrietta, Texas. She and her husband moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1981, from Barrington, Illinois where they enjoyed their retirement years. They were members of the Twin Lakes Baptist Church. Gaye loved the simple things in life. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in the choir at church. Gaye comes from a loving and musical family. She was raised on a farm in Wichita Falls, Texas with her parents and eight brothers and sisters. She had a great sense of humor and a genuine sweetness about her. She was a wonderful lady and will be greatly missed by her family and everyone else that knew her. There is peace and comfort for her family in knowing that she is now with the Lord. Gaye is survived by five children, Linda Williams of Woodlands, TX, Marsha Gilbert and husband Roland of Mountain Home, AR, Melissa Hardinge and husband Hal of Crystal Lake, IL, Lewis Amis and wife Moya of Lakeland, FL, Bryan Amis of Fort Myers, FL. Gaye is survived by nine grandchildren, Matt Davis and wife Mary Ann, Marc Davis, Michael Davis and wife Yabiz, Chris Williams, Prudence Rowe and husband Eric, Abe Hardinge, Layla Closs and husband John, Hayley Stewart and husband Kyle and Chanc Amis; five great-grandchildren, Daniel Davis, Judah Rowe, Eden Rowe, Lilliana Stewart and Lorenso Closs; brother, Dorman Bryant and wife Clara of McRae, AR and sister, Jerri Gostnell of Coppell, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and two brothers. A Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Daryl Young officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery with Matt Davis, Marc Davis, Michael Davis, Abe Hardinge, Chanc Amis and Eric Rowe as pallbearers.
