A Graveside Service for Gene Donald Myers of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Friday, February 3, 2017, at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Danny Pomeroy officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Hoevel-Barnett V.F.W. Post #1341 and United States Army Honor Guards.
Gene passed away February 1, 2017, in Bull Shoals, Arkansas at the age of 89. He was born September 22, 1927, in Freeport, Illinois, the son of Elmo and Gladys Bardell Myers. From the age of three, Gene and his brother, Lewis were raised by their grandfather, Arthur E. Myers. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII serving in Germany with the 39th. Infantry Company F. He married Phyllis Althof on February 1, 1950, at Chicago, Illinois. He was a conductor and brakeman for the Illinois Central Railroad for 29 years and owned Gene's Heating & Air. He lived in Bull Shoals for 17 years, moving from Hudson, Iowa and loved to travel to see his grandchildren.
Gene is survived by his wife, Phyllis Myers of Bull Shoals, AR; two sons, Ronald G. (Vicki) Myers of Page, AZ and Daniel J. (Lavonne Pinger) Myers of Citrus Heights, CA; two daughters, Deborah K. (David) Ferguson of Waterloo, IA and Suzanne Carla (Perry) Springstead of Red Lodge, MT; seven grandchildren, Sam, Zac, Amanda, Melanie, Benjamin, Jason and William Lake; 12 great-grandchildren and one brother, Lewis Myers of Freeport, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandchild, Levi.
Memorials may be made to Food Pantry of Bull Shoals or Hospice of the Ozarks.
