Long before the Internet, Siri, or even Google - there was a Geneiva. If you were new to the area of Bull Shoals or Lakeview around the 70’s through the 90’s, you probably heard of, knew, or were introduced to Geneiva Rosa. She was a very active member in the lakeside community of Bull Shoals, Arkansas where she held various positions as a Motel Manager, Club Scout Den Mother, Bull Shoals Police Dispatch Officer, owner of ‘B&G’s Nook and Kranny’ with her husband James “Bud” Rosa, volunteered in various civil services such as Planning and Zoning of Bull Shoals, and lastly a Real Estate Agent.
As a matter of fact, if you needed just about anything, people often recite “Go talk to Geneiva”, “Have you asked Geneiva?”, or “Geneiva probably knows”. She was a renaissance woman who was extraordinarily resourceful and ahead of her time. She was fair and equal to everyone, because it did not matter if you had $2 or $2000 in your pocket, she would treat everybody the same. Putting on “airs'' is something she was not known for doing; hypothetically she could sit across from the President of the United States and would have them in stitches with tears of laughter. Always up for an adventure or project, she never shied away from an opportunity to have a little fun, she would often say, “let’s do it”. Affectionately her family describes her as a master shenaniganator who could and would convince you to do just about anything, while secretly making you feel like it was your idea! This was the pure joy and charisma of Geneiva Rosa, and the mountain of stories she would tell.
On June 6th, 2023, Geneiva Iris Rosa, 83 years old, passed away peacefully of natural causes at Baxter Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded in love by her sons Bruce, Gary, and Steven Rosa. Also present was her sister Marlene Kepford, her niece Mary Kay Minor, her grandchildren Lindsey and Alec, and her daughters-in-law Sandy and Jessica Rosa.
James “Bud” (1932-2007) and Geneiva Rosa, have lived in Bull Shoals since the early 1970’s where they built a home and life after visiting the area on a camping trip. Predeceased to Geneiva’s passing were many of her close friends who were family in her heart, including her husband James “Bud”, her parents Amos and Mae Wake.
Survived by her sons, Bruce (Jessica), Gary (Sandy), and Steven (Catherine) Rosa, her grand-children, Kenneth, Lindsey, and Alec (Julia) Rosa, and her siblings, Herschel “Dean” Wake, Vesta Minor, Ricky Wake, and Janitt “Marlene” Kepford including nieces and nephews. Arrangements are being made for a private burial in the Newton Flats Cemetery at a later date. Per her wishes, only private funeral arrangements are being made.
