Geneva Griffin Harden, age 90, passed away at home in Mountain Home, Arkansas on January 7, 2014. She was born in Paddy, Missouri, November 10, 1923 to Alta Fox Griffin and Floyd Griffin. She married William W. Harden on July 20, 1940. She was a homemaker and worked at the West Plains Shoe Factory in the 1950's. She worked as a unit clerk at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, a dispatcher for the St. Louis County Fire Department, a 911 dispatcher for Fremont, California and a unit clerk for Kaiser Hospital in California. She was an officer in the V.F.W. and American Legion. She returned to West Plains then moved to Arizona until 2004 when she moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Harden Alvarez of Mountain Home, AR; son, William Harden (Judy) of West Plains, MO; three brothers, Floyd (Teresa) Griffin of Oklahoma; William Griffin of Springfield, MO; and Charles (Lola) Griffin of Martinez, CA; two sisters, Hazel Griffin and Elba June Griffin both of Oregon; seven grandchildren, Ted Thurman of Mountain Home, AR, Teresa Thurman Myers (Dave) of Las Vegas, NV, William Harden (Dee) ; Melissa Weigand (Scott), Amy Schram (Ted), Sarah Harden (Walter) all of West Plains, MO and Andrew Harden (Sarah) of Ava, Missouri; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, and four brothers.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, January 10, 2013 at Elijah Cemetery at Elijah, Missouri. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 9, 2013 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home.
