George Bender

George Bender died Thursday, June 18, 2009 in Mountain Home at the age of 97. He was born Saturday, October 7, 1911 in Friend, Nebraska, the son of George and Amela Snyder Bender. He married Margaret Wenninger on June 25, 1955 at Chicago, Illinois and worked as a Traffic Inspector for the Chicago Transit Authority. George Bender was a U.S. Marine veteran of WWII. George lived in Mountain Home since 1975 moving from Chicago, Illinois. Survivors: George Bender is survived by his brother, Albert Bender of Miles City, MT and niece, Sharon Drake of Billings, Montana. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Alma Hertel and wife, Margaret Bender. Visitation: Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M., Tuesday, June 23 at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Funeral: Funeral services for George R. Bender of Mountain Home, AR, will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Fred Taylor, officiating. Burial: Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the charity of choice. Additional Notes: Military honors will be provided by Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246 Honor Guard.
