He married Maryanne Culhane at Chicago, Illinois on January 23, 1954 and had resided in the Elizabeth area for the past 16 years. He served with the US Army during World War II. He was a former Pressman and of the Catholic faith.
George entered into eternal rest at Baxter Regional Medical Center on December 14, 2009 at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 13 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by; his wife, Maryanne Coonley of Elizabeth; 3 sons, George Coonley of Chicago, Illinois, Gerald Coonley of Ullin, Illinois and Daniel Coonley of Chicago, Illinois; 3 daughters, Angela Bartodziej of Mc Henry, Illinois and Mary Coonley of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and 6 Grandchildren.
