George Gussy

A Funeral Mass for George Francis Gussy, Sr. of Mountain Home, AR, will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, with Reverend Stan Swiderski officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M., Wednesday, January 13th. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel.

George died Thursday, January 7, 2010 in Mountain Home at the age of 81.

George Gussy, Sr. was born Saturday, April 28, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George Lewis and Betty Flynn Gussy. He married Joan Bauer on October 26, 1990 at Yellville, Arkansas. George was a baker and a U.S. Army veteran of Korea. He lived in Mountain Home since April 1969 moving from Schiller Park, Illinois. He was a life member and past commander of the Ozark VFW Post #3246 and member of the B.P.O. Elks.

George Gussy, Sr. is survived by his wife, Joan Gussy, 4 sons, George F. (Kim) Gussy, Jr. of Flippin, AR, Gregory (Anne) Gussy of St. Petersburg, FL, Geoffrey Gussy of San Diego, CA and Melvin A. (Karie) Larson of Jonesboro, AR, 2 daughters, Nancy (Henry) Roberts of Gassville, AR and Marissa (Mike) Byler of Mountain Home, AR, 8 grandchildren; Heather (Mike) Hammel, Kayla, Leah, Mitchell, Alyssa, Ryan, Katie and Abigail, 1 brother, Roger Gussy of Crystal Falls, MI and 3 sisters, Sister Carol Gussy of Chicago, IL, Doris (Ken) Mazikowski of Phoenix, AZ and Joyce Gussy of Mt. Prospect, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 grandson, Devon.

Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas with Henry Roberts, Mel Larson, George F. Gussy, Jr., Gregory Gussy, Geoffrey Gussy and Mike Byler as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Pilar, Dan Habermann, Dick Scoville, Mike Turner and Dwayne Fretueg. Military Honors will be provided by the Ozark VFW Post #3246 Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church Building Fund or the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas.
