George Marvin Hove, Jr. of Elizabeth, Arkansas, passed away October 18, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 87. He was born May 31, 1937, in Winchester, Tennessee the son of George Marvin and Theora Priscilla Dokter Hove, Sr. George, Jr. met Joyce Wallace, the love of his life, while at Britton High School in South Dakota. They were married December 19, 1958. George went to South Dakota State and Montana State, receiving a B.S. in Agriculture, and an M.S. in Range Management. George and Joyce both had teaching careers in the state of Montana for many years. Upon retirement, they moved to Elizabeth, Arkansas in 1994. George loved hunting, fishing, competitive shooting, gardening, playing games with family and friends, attending shows in Branson, Missouri, and his beagles. He and his wife were active in their local church and with Operation Christmas Child.
George is survived by his sister, Ann Mortenson of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces, Krista Windingland, Tera Bodwell, and Trish Stacey; nephews, Erik Hove and Mark Mortenson; goddaughter, Kasi Miller; and several great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; Joyce Hove; brother, Gordon Hove; and nephew, Wayne Mortenson.
A Memorial Service for George will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Randy Ludwig officiating. A reception will follow.
