A Celebration of Life for George Stephen Marcek of Lakeview, Arkansas, will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the Calvary Bible Church, with Pastor Roy Crane officiating.
George died Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Baxter Regional Medical Center, at the age of 88. He was born January 10, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John and Susan Krc Marcek. He married Florence Edith Van der Meer in 1946 and worked as a superintendent for a furniture factory. George Marcek was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. George lived in Lakeview, Arkansas since the early 1980?s moving from Chicago. He enjoyed singing and was part of the Barbershop Quartet and Ozark Naturals and sang at and was a member of the Calvary Bible Church. He also enjoyed fishing and loved turning wood and carving and was a member of the Ozark Woodturners.
George is survived by his 2 sons, Kent (Marianne) Marcek of Bettendorf, IA and Scott (Eileen) Marcek of Goose Creek, SC; 3 grandsons, Duane, Adam and Christopher Marcek of Goose Creek, SC; 1 sister, Anne Barrow and special friend, Maxine Klumb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Flo and 1 brother, John.
Memorials may be made to the Calvary Bible Church.
