George Perry, Jr. died Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Mountain Home at the age of 80. George was born Tuesday, April 10, 1928 in San Luis Obispo, California, son of George Dewey and Hilda Poole Perry, Sr. He graduated from Richmond, CA high school and attended Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon, where he met his wife, Mary McCormick. They were married on August 30, 1952 at Modesto, California. Mr. Perry retired from the Baptist General Conference Headquarters office in Arlington Heights, Illinois. He worked in numerous capacities, such as Sunday School Superintendent, business manager and youth director in various churches. He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church in Mountain Home. George was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and lived in Mountain Home for 15 years moving from Mundelein, Illinois. Survivors: George is survived by; his wife, Mary Perry of Mountain Home, 3 daughters, Diane (Rex) Tucker of St. Joseph, , MN, Kathleen (Jeff) Buchanan of Hanover Park, IL, Kelly (Raymond) Atimbaneam of St. Joseph, MN, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Ronald (Patricia) Perry of Hazel Green, WI, 1 sister, Florence (Kent) Rekow of Washington State. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by parents, one brother, Kenneth Perry and two sisters; Mariam Perry and Edith Shafer. Funeral: A memorial service for George Dewey Perry, Jr. of Mountain Home, AR, will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Jon Gilbert officiating.
