George Earl Salo Jr.

A Graveside Service for George Earl Salo, Jr. of Norfork, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, Flat Rock, Michigan.

George passed away June 13, 2017, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 85. He was born January 22, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of George and Hilda Piiranen Salo. He married Janet Higgins in 1952, in Livonia, Michigan and together they raised three girls. He was a Lithographer for Ford Motor Co. He later met Virginia Coffin at work and they were married in 1972, in Hawaii. They made their home in Taylor, Michigan. After retiring they moved to Norfork, Arkansas, in the early 1980's. He was a United States Navy Reservist and enjoyed hunting, collecting stamps, coins and Indian artifacts. He was also an Eagle Scout and a Boy Scout leader.

George is survived by his three daughters, Susan Salo, Diane Tesone, and Variya Salo; step-daughter, Karen Bradley; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Keith Salo and Dean Salo and sister, Betty VanderWal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; step-daughter, Carolyn Pondell; and grandson, Aaron Tesone.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
