Gertrude Dunlop, 89, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away on July 24, 2024, in Mountain Home. Her journey began on August 13, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the daughter of Ernst and Gerda Metz Berger. In 1952, she married Jack Dunlop in Milwaukee before embarking on a distinguished career spanning over 30 years at General Motors. In 1998 Gertrude made Mountain Home her home after relocating from Marshall, Arkansas. A devoted member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, she found solace and community within its embrace. Among her passions in life were the love, care, and respect for all animals and nature. Gertrude loved to travel and especially enjoyed watching and attending professional ice-skating shows.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Carl (Alice) Berger; nephews, Don (Suzy) Berger, and Jim (Lisa) Berger; niece, Ellen (Dean) Kozelek, and her great-nieces and great-nephew, Zoe, Sarah, Grace, and Samuel. Gertrude now rests peacefully with her parents, Ernst and Gerda Berger; and countless animals that she cared for and loved dearly.
A Memorial Service honoring Gertrude's life will be held at 2:00 pm, September 4, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, where Pastor Kevin McReynolds will offer comforting words.
