Glen Fischer died Monday, April 28, 2008 in Mountain Home at the age of 79. He was born Sunday, May 27, 1928 in Lyons, Illinois, the son of Edward and Dora Taeschler Fischer. He married Mildred Newland on June 14, 1958 at Oak Park, Illinois and was a college professor in Iowa for 29 years. He and his wife retired to Mountain Home in 1995 and he was a member of White River Nazarene Church in Cotter. He loved teaching Sunday School, playing the guitar and reading. Survivors: Glen Fischer is survived by his wife - Mildred, sisters; Janeth Murphy, Virginia Geery and Pauline (Richard) Geery, brother-in-law, Alois Polharsky, his children, Dr. Tim (Dr. Carol) Fischer, S.C., Kenneth (Annette) Fischer, MN and Marti Mullen, Iowa, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dora Fischer, his brother, Lee Fischer, sisters, Ruth (Bob) Hanke and Nancy Polharsky, and brother-in-law Walter Geery Sr.. Visitation: Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Funeral: Funeral services for Glen A. Fischer of Mountain Home, AR, will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Walter Geary officiating. Burial: Burial will be in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas Memorials: Memorials may be made to the White River Nazarene Church Building Fund.
