Auguste "Gusty" Wilhelmina Victoria Vietor Hohertz, 98, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 in Crystal Lake IL.
She was born January 1, 1913, sixth of seven children, in Idstein, Germany, and had been a resident of Chicago and Mountain Home, Arkansas, until the past four years.
Gusty loved traveling and learning about new places. She lived in her own home and did gardening until age 93 when she moved to Good Samaritan Village. Sewing, knitting and crocheting were some of her favorite activities, as well as playing pinochle and bridge with friends. She played Rummikub until a year ago under her own rules.
She is survived by her daughter, Sonja (the late Karl) Selboe of Washington; her son, Rolf (Catherine) Hohertz of Green Oaks, IL; her grandchildren, Karen (Jeff) Ojemann, Lisa (Tim) Gregg, Kurt Selboe, Lynn Selboe, Theresa Barber (Michael) Hathaway, Laura (Rich) Dickens and Julianna (Nicholas) Zajac; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on March 12th in Illinois.
Inurnment is pending and will be held at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church or one's charity of choice.
