Harold Zobac

February 7, 1915 — November 10, 2005

Harold Edward Zobac was born February 7, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois. In July of that year, his parents were among the many who perished aboard the cruise ship Eastland when it capsized in the Chicago River. Mr. Zobac was raised as a son by his uncle Frank Zobac and wife Anna. After finishing high school, he worked in various metal shops. He married Ethel Gustafson in April 1939 in Chicago, Illinois and settled in Tinley Park, Illinois. He worked for Anderson Heating and Air Conditioning thirty-five years; twenty-five as layout foreman and shop manager. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #73 for sixty-five years. The Zobac family moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas from Tinley Park, Illinois in 1978. He enjoyed fishing early on, then bowling. He was an active member of the Mountain Home Bible Church where he was affectionately known as Smiley. Harold Edward Zobac passed away at Baxter Regional Medical Center on November 10, 2005, at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 3 days. Survivors: His wife of sixty-five years, Ethel Zobac of Mountain Home, Arkansas; son, Stan (Cindi) of Eagle Bay, British Columbia, Canada; daughter, Lila McCartney and friend, Michael, of Springhill, Arkansas; daughter, Adele (Dennis) Odom, of Vernon, Hills, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael (Allyson) and Caroline of British Columbia and Kelly and Matthew Odom Preceded in Death by: His parents; brothers, Frank, George and Robert Zobac; and sisters, Violet Adams and Anne McGinnis Funeral: A memorial service for Harold Edward Zobac, of Mountain Home will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2005 at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wesley Uplinger and Pastor Scott Newman officiating.
