Helen Marie Silver Bartlett, age 95, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Born in Yancey County, North Carolina on October 15, 1923, the daughter of the late Jeff and Bessie Silver. She was retired from Kearfott Singer Corporation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George “Mack” Bartlett, Sr.; sisters, Pauline Gardner of Black Mountain, Thelma Reed of Charleston, South Carolina, Jamie Thomas of Clinton, Maryland and Doris Faubert of Boston Massachusetts; brothers, Jack Silver of Pensacola, Florida and Fred Silver of Old Fort; and great granddaughters, Hannah Grace Lynn Bartlett of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Willow Marie Kolter of Brookville, Indiana.
Helen was 95 and still loved to travel up until the last couple of years. She loved all her family, her church, Old Fort Mountain Music, her friends at the Old Fort Senior Center and many other friends. She was a loving foster grandparent at Old Fort Elementary School for many years.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Brenda Johnson (Roger) and Bonnie Rickman (Rick), both of Old Fort, Donna Effler (Steve) of Cherokee Village, Arkansas and Kimberly Bartlett of Greensboro, North Carolina; sons, George M. Bartlett, Jr. (Kim) of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Jeffrey Bartlett (Sharon) of Marion. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, three step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Lola Silver of Pensacola, Florida, Hazel Wright (James) of Fairview, Nancy Bartlett of Black Mountain and Allie Black of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Old Fort with Revs. Vincent White and Latte Slagle officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
