A Memorial Service for Helen Josephine Meek of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend David Gadbaw officiating.
Helen passed away July 18, 2015, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 94. She was born October 2, 1920, in Taylor, Wisconsin, the daughter of Julius and Minnie (Trones) Lee. She married Wesley Meek on March 18, 1943, at Lawrenceville, Illinois, and lived in Black River Falls, Wisconsin all of their married lives. Wesley died on August 15, 1979.
Helen was employed at Jackson County Savings and Loan (now First Financial) of Black River Falls for 33 years, and by the Dimmick Insurance Agency for 20 years, until 1971. She then became employed by the Co-op Credit Union of Black River Falls until purchasing the Holder Insurance Agency, in 1975, which she operated until 1979.
Helen moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas, on October 15, 1982. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Twin Lakes Golf Club, and the Elks Lodge #1714. She was a member of the Baxter Regional Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary for 20 years.
Helen is survived by her sister, Jean Vail of Cedar Rapids, IA, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Elvin Lee; and three sisters, Albertine Schankey, Marie Stephens, and Myrtle Manders.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
