A Graveside Service for Helen W. Miller of Pekin, Illinois, formerly of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum Open-Air Chapel with the Mountain Home Bible Church officiating.

Helen W. Miller, 96, of Pekin, passed away at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Autumn Accolade in rural Green Valley.

Born March 25, 1918 in Silver Hill, Maryland to Martin Henry and Rosa (Reimers) Witt, she married Herbert Rolland Miller on July 2, 1949 in Silver Hill. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1997. She also was preceded in death by her son, Gary M. Miller; one sister, Margaret W. Foley; and two brothers, Henry M. Witt and Detlef J. Witt.

Surviving are one daughter, Gail (Brad) Marshall of Pekin; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Helen was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin. She had formerly been a Sunday school teacher in Maryland. She also taught vacation bible school on a regular basis.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a prayer warrior and enjoyed visiting shut-ins.

In her early years, Helen had worked as a secretary for the government in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, in the United States Navy Yard in Washington D.C., and for Morton Salt in Maryland. She later was a homemaker, and enjoyed taking care of her family and seeing her husband off to work each day and being there to greet him when he came home.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Timothy Collard will officiate. Additional services will be held in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Entombment will be at Kirby’s Tucker Memorial Mausoleum in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
