Henry Joseph Kothe, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5, 2021 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born April 4, 1934 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Earnest and Lucille Barker Kothe; sister, Janice Marie Kothe Concon; and son, Martin Joseph (Rachel) Kothe. Joe graduated from Southside High School in 1953 and Memphis State University in 1958. After college, he served in the US Army Reserve. He managed Southaire, Inc. at the Gulfport Municipal Airport. He also worked for Gay and Taylor Insurance Adjusters and Traveler's Insurance Company, both in Memphis. Joe earned his pilot's license and flew for business and pleasure. In 1968, he formed American Claim Service, Inc. and American Aviation Adjusters in Memphis, TN and investigated aviation accidents and commercial transportation accidents for 35 years. Joe was a member of the national organization, Organized Flying Adjusters, and served as president for one term with the OFA. He later moved to Northwest Arkansas and attained his real estate broker's license. Joe loved God, his family, fishing, John Wayne movies, and the outdoors. He was an avid tennis player.
Joe is survived by his wife of 17 years, Gladys Lee Kothe; three daughters, Sharon (George) Harris, Debbiejo (Keith) Barnett, and Cindy (Mike) Nichols; and three stepsons, Robert "Bo" Dearing, Steve (Marion) Evans, and David (Charlotte) Evans. Joe has seven grandchildren, George (Sarah) Harris, Jr., Wilson (Shawna) Harris, Chaitra (Paul) Tohill, Tyler Kothe, Jessica Kothe, Wyatt Nichols, and Kempseyann Barnett; along with seven great-grandchildren, Alanna, Emma, Kristopher, Ayla, Reese, Elijah, and Olivia.
Services will be held at a later date.
In leui of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or a charity of choice.
