Memorial Services for Herbert Ferris Johnston of Saint Peters, Missouri, will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Bethel Baptist Church, with Pastor Patrick Norris officiating.
Johnston, Herbert Ferris, 86, passed away on Feb 19th in Florida. A former resident of Lakeview and member of Bethel Baptist Church, he had moved to St Peters, MO in 2009 to be closer to his sons.
Herb?s military career began at the age of 17 and would see him through three wars - WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star for Valor, Purple Heart with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal and a Presidential Citation. He had a long career in law enforcement. Beginning in 1946 at the Clayton Police Dept, Clayton MO, from 1971 through 1979 working for the State of Florida Dept of Law Enforcement in several different capacities and service as the Chief of Police in Russellville, AR from 1980 to 1989 when he retired.
He leaves behind a daughter, Linda (Heyse) of Orlando, FL, two sons, Herbert Curtis and Scott Paul and granddaughter Jennifer all of St. Peters, MO, and three brothers Harold, John and James.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum.
